The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen and expand relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in protecting the state border.

During the meeting held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, the border troops’ commanders of the two neighbouring states discussed issues relating to the development of military cooperation between Tajik and Uzbek border guards, including the coordination of activities in joint protection of the state border, the current state of border areas, exchange of information, timely preventive measures and necessary steps to settle border disputes.

The delegations signed a number of official documents following the meeting.
