President of Uzbekistan arrives in Latvia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived in Latvia on 16 October 2013 to pay a state visit to this country at the invitation of President Andris Bērziņš, UzA reported.
The flags of two nations were raised and the guard of honour was built at the international airport of Riga, UzA reported.
The visit is organized within the framework of the regular Uzbek-Latvian political dialogue, which allows leaders of two states to discuss current state of bilateral relations and to identify priority areas of cooperation for the long term, as well as exchange views on important regional and international issues.
The main events of the state visit will take place on 17 October 2013.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov will hold talks with his Latvian counterpart Andris Bērziņš, Speaker of Saeima Solvita Āboltiņa and Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis.
The talks are anticipated to produce a joint declaration of the heads of state, along with a range of agreements designed to bolster the bilateral cooperation in political, commercial, investment, transport and communications spheres and environmental protection.
