Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The law “On introduction of changes and amendments, as well as abolishment of some legislative acts of Uzbekistan” from 7 October 2013 introduced changed and amendments to the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, envisaging responsibility for robbery through unauthorized connection to oil and gas pipelines, as well as damaging pipelines.
The measures are directed at improve criminal-legal base, regulating issues related to preventing theft from the oil and gas pipelines. In major cases, this crime is contacted by group of people as there is need for set channel of sales of stolen products.
At the same time, theft of crude oil or condensate becomes a source of the spread of harmful substances, contained in these products, among population in the form of substitute vehicle fuel. Substandard poor quality fuel is causing significant damage to the interests of consumers, Norma.uz reported.
According to amendments to Criminal Code, theft of products from oil and gas pipeline envisage fine at the size of up to 300 sizes of minimal salary, correctional works from 2 to 3 years or jail from 3 to 5 years.
Willful destruction, damage, or otherwise bringing in unfit condition of oil and gas pipelines, oil and gas products, as well as technologically related installations, facilities, communications, automation, and alarms, which resulted or could result in a violation of their normal operations, shall be punished with the fine of up to 100 sizes of minimal wage, or correctional work up to two years, or imprisonment up to 3 years.
For the same actions, if repeated, on preliminary arrangement by group of persons and caused major damage, as well as moderate or serious bodily injury, the law envisages a penalty of up to 300 sizes of minimal wage, or correctional works from 2 to 3 years, or imprisonment from 3 to 5 years.
If such actions result in death of person or in huge damage, the violators will be jailed from 5 to 8 years.
The violations results in human victims or other heavy consequences, the law envisages imprisonment from 8 to 10 years.
