Leave without pay is limited to three months

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Labour Code of Uzbekistan was amended with a norm, which limits term of leave without pay for three months.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a law “On introduction of changes and amendments, as well as abolishment of some legislative acts of Uzbekistan” on 7 October 2013.
Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 31 July 2013 and Senate approved it on 22 August 2013. The law came into force on 8 October 2013.
The law introduces amendments to Labour Code, which limits leave without pay.
According to the amendments to article 150 of the Labour Code, the employer can give leave without pay for up to three months within a year on request of the worker.
The law also amended article 113 of the Labour Code (“Suspension of work”). According to the amendments, the employees will not receive salary during the period of suspension.
In accordance with the Code, the employee may be suspended from the job after coming to work in a state of alcoholic, narcotic or toxic intoxication, evading from compulsory medical examination or non-compliance with the recommendations, issued by the medical commissions on the results of surveys.
