China, Uzbekistan to diversify economic relations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a joint declaration on further developing and deepening bilateral relations of strategic partnership on 9 September 2013.

The document said that two states affirmed their readiness actively use opportunities of the Chinse-Uzbek intergovernmental committee on cooperation and its sub-committees to improve structure of bilateral trade and diversify economic cooperation, improve conditions for access to goods, services and advanced technologies based on equality and mutual benefit, deepen cooperation in financial-investment, transport-communication and agriculture times, expansion of cultural-humanitarian and scientific-technical relation, Xinhua reported.

Both sides will continue to implement agreement on long-term trade between the Government of China and the Government of Uzbekistan from 14 October 2009. Additional protocol to the agreement form 4 December 2009 and the programme of cooperation between the Government of China and the Government of Uzbekistan in non-raw and high-technological spheres from 9 June 2010 will expand scale of trade to raise the trade turnover to US$5 billion by 2017.

Two states expressed readiness to expand mutual cooperation on organization of production of competitive goods with high value added cost in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, mining, machinery, electrotechnical, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, production of construction material, development and introduction of alternative energy sources.

China and Uzbekistan will improve trade and investment climate, actively support business entities, working in territories of each other, create equip mutual beneficial conditions for mutual access to goods, services, investments, engineers and other corresponding representatives in the markets of each other.

The sides will expand energy cooperation and will ensure long-term safe and stable functioning of gas pipeline China-Uzbekistan. The countries will interact in joint exploration and development of oil, gas and uranium fields and expand potential cooperation in energy, solar, wind and renewable energy.

The counties decided to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, promote concrete projects in agriculture machinery, deep processing agriculture products, improve land reclamation and soil fertility, develop rural infrastructure.

The sides will deepen cooperation in financial sector, speed up implementation of bilateral currency swop-agreements from 19 April 2011 and will promote transactions in national currencies in bilateral trade. The sides will continue to implement cooperation projects based on equality and mutual benefit.

China and Uzbekistan expressed readiness to continue cooperation in creation, development and effective functioning of transport-communication infrastructure, which play key role in development of bilateral relations in trade-economic and other spheres.
