Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The four-star hotel Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent marked its 10th anniversary of its operation in Uzbekistan’s hospitality market and held a celebration event on 6 June 2013.
The Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent was founded on the basis of the former hotel Dustlik. The hotel was commissioned on 1 May 2002 on the eve of annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The hotel has 206 rooms, conference facilities for up to 1,000 attendees, three gourmet restaurants and a spacious gym featuring an outdoor swimming pool overlooking a lush courtyard and tennis court as well as a half-Olympic size indoor pool.
The Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent hosted a reception on occasion of the jubilee. Representatives of the Government of Uzbekistan, partners of hotels, diplomatic corps and international organizations were invited to the event.
The Chefs of the Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent treated guests with fine cuisine, while singers Nilufar Usmanova and Sardor Rakhimhon entertained the guest with their songs.
After opening ceremony, the General Manager of the Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent Gianluca Tozzo, representative of Tashkent city administration, Mr. Bakhodir Babadjanov and the Director of the Professional Tourism College, Mr. Alisher Shamsiev participated at the cake cutting ceremony.
The General Manager Gianluca Tozzo said that for all ten years the Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent has happily been serving its guests and offering a wide-range high quality services. Our employees are always friendly and willing to fulfil the wishes of even the most demanding customers. A professional team will ensure a warm welcome and traditional hospitality, he noted.
“As our philosophy people are the most important ingredient in hotel services industry and our guests need to feel that they are treated by people who care for them. It is important to have a nice room and a good meal, but it is more important how this is served to you and how the employees make you feel. The guests are returning to us thanks to our employees, not uniquely to our rooms, pool or other facilities.”
Mr. Tozzo stated that during these ten years the Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent has not only served over 500,000 guests, but has been serving and contributing loyally to the economy of Uzbekistan.
He said that the Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent supports educational institutions in Uzbekistan and annually trains over 50 students, contributing to training high skilled specialists in the country. He underlined that the hotel also actively participates in college and university activities.
The General Manager stated that the Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent focuses on buying supplies and products, whenever possible exclusively made in Uzbekistan and supporting local businesses.

The Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent received several recognitions and international awards, he said. Tozzo said that the hotel was named as “2012 Uzbekistan Leading Hotel” at the World Travel Awards, the Oscars of the hotel industry. He added that the Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent was named as the 2012 Best Employer by Superjob.uz and earned the “Certificate of Excellence” from TripAdvisor, placing the hotel in the top performing 10% of all businesses worldwide in guest satisfaction.
Speaking about expansion plans of Dedeman, Mr. Tozzo underlined that the Dedeman is working on the launch of several hotels in Russia, Kazakhstan, Iraq and other countries. He said that he would be happy for new developments in Uzbekistan as the country has great potential. “The Dedeman brand has good reputation in Tashkent, I would very happy to see the growth of the Dedeman brand in such cities as Bukhara, Samarkand or even in Chimgan mountains,” he said.
Dedeman Hotels is one of the oldest hotel networks in Turkey. Dedeman Hotels is a part of Dedeman Group, a family business and one of the largest industrial-financial unions in Turkey.
Dedeman Group started its activities in mining sector in 1947. It mined and exported chrome, zinc, lead and magnesium silicate.
The first hotel Dedeman Ankara Hotel was built in Ankara in 1966 and it was the first step of Dedeman Group in tourism sector. Currently, Dedeman possesses 19 hotels in Turkey and five abroad, including in Uzbekistan.
Development of network of Dedeman Hotels started at the same time with tourism boom in Turkey in 2001. Dedeman Tourism Investments Corp started to manage construction and investments into hotel business in 2001. The company signed agreements on management and franchise. In the result, the company owns Dedeman Grand Hotel in Antalya, resort Dedeman Club Belkoy, Dedeman Durusu, Dedeman Grand Chisinau (Moldavia) and The Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
