Customs officers prevent smuggling of 900 historic objects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan prevented 43 cases of illegal smuggling of about 900 units of historic objects in last five months of 2013, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The committee said that Namangan citizen Gulchehra Sarvarova was detained at Tashkent International Airport, when she attempted to smuggle 19 units of ancient gold coins. The coins were produced in the beginning of 19th century.
Citizen of Uzbekistan N. Hamroyeva tried to smuggle 26 units of golden and silver medals, which were found during inspection of train Tashkent-Moscow. It was revealed that the medals have historic value and their cost is over 17 million soums.
Two citizens of Zangiata district of Tashkent region S. Fuzailov and I. Yoriyev attempted to smuggle 132 units of historic objects for 21 million soums to neighbouring state at customs post Navoi in Tashkent region.
Currently, investigations on these cases are underway.
