Uzbekistan, Gazprom to sign PSA on Dzhel field by end of 2013

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan and Russia’s Gazprom are planning to sign agreement on product sharing agreement (PSA) on Dzhel field at Ustyurt plateau by the end of 2013, a chairperson of the board of Uzbekneftegaz Shokir Fayzullaev on 13 May 2013.
Shokir Fayzullaev underlined that the sides will determine terms and start work on the project by the end of 2013.
He said that the PSA on Dzhel field is part of plans on development of cooperation between Uzbekneftegaz and Gazprom. He added that the sides are planning to prolong an agreement on partnership, which expired in 2012. He said that the sides plan to extend the agreement for 10 more years.
Shokir Fayzullaev said that within the agreement, the sides are discussing on joint work on several projects, including Dzhel field.
Gazprom conducted drills at the field in 2012 and revealed 14 productive horizons, reserves of which were approved by state commission on reserves under the Government of Uzbekistan.
If the sides sign agreement on Dzhel field, it will be second the PSA, implemented by Gazprom in Uzbekistan. Gazprom started to mine natural gas at Shakpakhty field in August 2004 with the project capacity of 500 million cubic meters. The PSA was signed for 15 years.
Gazprom produced over 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas. In 2012, the company mined 300 million cubic meters of gas in 2012, which grew 1.4 times year-on-year.
In February 2012, Gazprom announced about completion of geological exploration works at Utyurt region with total cost of US$400 million and its plans to expand resource base within its projects in Uzbekistan.
