Uzbekistan creates gardens at 4,600 hectares in 1Q

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan sowed vegetables at 154,100 hectares, potatoes at 71,000 hectares and melons and gourds at 14,400 hectares as of 1 April 2013, a publication of the Ministry of Economy and State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The report said that Uzbekistan created gardens at 4,600 hectares, intensive gardens at 2,700 hectares and vineyards – 3,800 hectares in the first three months of 2013.
Uzbekistan reconstructed gardens at 5,500 hectares and vineyards at 3,400 hectares, the report of the state bodies said.
Over 21,000 greenhouses were created at 349 hectares of auxiliary economy. In the first quarter, Uzbekistan produced 39,500 tonnes of vegetables, which grew by 18.2% year-on-year.
In the reporting period, Uzbekistan created 580 cattle farms, 333 poultry farms and 1,055 beekeeping farms. About 385 fish breeding farms were created at 1,200 hectares of artificial water reservoirs.
Number of cattle reached 10 million heads (+5.3%). Uzbekistan produced 357,300 tonnes of meat (+6.3%), 1.32 million tonnes of milk (+7%) and 862,400 million eggs (+14.2%).
