Uzbekistan plans to create logistic center in Surkhandarya region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is planning to create international center for logistic with use of European and international standards and know-how in Surkhandarya region.
Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan issued a resolution "On measures on attracting to Uzbekistan of no-string technical assistance (grants) of donor countries, international and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations for 2013-2015" on 29 March 2013.
The project "Assisting in creation of international center for logistic with use of European and international standards and know-how in Surkhandarya region" was included to the list of projects, which are developed in cooperation with donor countries, international and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Total cost of the project is US$10.4 million, of which US$2.6 million will be grant of the Commission of European Union and US$7.8 million – resources of the Uzbek side.
According to the project, the EU funds will be used to improve transport-logistic infrastructure, organization of educational seminars in European states, as well as supply of equipment and materials for construction of warehouses and vehicle repair shops, refrigerators and warehouse equipment.
The resources of the Uzbek side will be used to construction and assembly works, purchase of equipment for warehouses and vehicle shops, refrigerators and warehouse equipment.
The Uzbek side will also finance training of specialists, development of the project, industrial standards and multimedia educational programmes.
