Uzbekenergo announces tender for modernization of electricity metering system

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo state joint stock company announced a tender for modernization of the system on accounting electricity consumption in three regions of Uzbekistan – Bukhara, Jizzakh and Samarkand.
The maximum price is US$180 million. Tender was announced for purchase and installation of 1 million smart electricity meters and creation of automated system of controlling and accounting consumpetion of electricity at 0.4 kilovolt networks in three regions.
The project will be implemented within three years. Tender proposals will be received till 31 May 2013, the announcement said.
The Republic of Uzbekistan has received financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of Advanced Electricity Metering Project, which is implemented in Bukhara, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions.
The project cost is US$207.4 million and it is financed due to loan of the Asian Development Bank for US$150 million and own resources of Uzbekenergo.
It is expected that the project will save 19.59 billion KWH electricity.
