Uzbekistan and Oman to boost bilateral trade-economic ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first session of Uzbek-Omani intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and the second session of the Uzbek-Omani business council, as well as joint business forum were held in Tashkent on 26-27 March 2013.
The events were organized within the visit of the delegation of Oman led by Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidy to Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan and Oman created firm legal base for bilateral cooperation in various areas. The sides signed two inter-state documents, nine inter-governmental agreements and 22 inter-departmental documents.
The agreement between Uzbekistan and Oman on avoiding double taxation and preventing evasion from income and capital tax, the agreement between Uzbekistan and Oman on encouraging and mutual protecting investments are foundation for trade-economic and investment cooperation.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Oman makes up US$75,100 in 2012, which does not meet potential of two states. The current visit should boost bilateral trade.
