The second main export item of Uzbekistan was cotton-fiber, share of which made up 10.5% in total exports of Uzbekistan in January-March 2011 (10% in January-March of 2010).
Ferrous and non-ferrous metals were on the third place with the share of 7.9% in January-March 2011 compared to 4.9% in the same period of 2010, the committee said.
Share of chemical products in exports was 5.4% (6% in January-March 2010), food products – 4.8% (3.7%), machinery and equipment – 5.2% (2.5%) and services – 6.9% (11.8%).
The main import items of Uzbekistan were machines and equipment, which accounted 41.5% of imports (61.1% in 1Q 2010) in the reporting period.
Uzbekistan imported chemical products and chemical goods (14% in total imports), food products (13.1%), ferrous and non-ferrous metals (7.1%) and service (3.7%), as well as energy and oil products (9%).
Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover reached US$5.718 billion in the first quarter of 2011 (+32.3%). The trade turnover with the CIS states made up US$2.228 billion and other countries – US$3.49 billion.
