Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 January 2023, the work schedule of the Uzbek delegation in Singapore was supplemented by a number of meetings with leaders of large businesses in this country. In particular, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov held talks with Wang Chi Fung, Director General of PCA International.

The company manages Singapore’s port infrastructure, which is the largest in the world in terms of container cargo turnover. In this context, the parties discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the development of logistics infrastructure, the details of the agreement being developed on the establishment of dry ports in Uzbekistan.

On the same day, familiarization with the activities of the Land Transport Authority - Corporate Headquarters took place. Brief information is provided on the activities of the company, which is currently responsible, among other things, for the development of the rapid transport system, rail and bus networks, maintenance of the parking management system throughout Singapore. It was emphasized that thanks to effective management, a well-thought-out system for planning and implementing projects, as well as solid investment infusions, the company provides support for the Singapore economy with a strong and constantly improving transport infrastructure.

The agenda of the meetings was continued by a dialogue with the Director General of the Singapore Business Federation Su Wei Chei. The parties discussed in detail the preparations for the Uzbek-Singapore business forum on 16 January, in which over 150 representatives of Singapore’s leading business circles, specializing in such areas as the food and chemical industries, information technology, energy, electrical engineering and electronics, are expected to attend. , healthcare, education and others.

Along with this, the parties considered the details of the forthcoming adoption of the Cooperation Program, which provides for holding events with the invitation of large companies from Uzbekistan and Singapore, including the organization of mutual business missions and online seminars in the most relevant areas of partnership.

Then there was a meeting with Kuok Khun Hong, CEO of Wilmar Trading, one of the world’s largest companies in the field of agricultural processing, which owns 500 manufacturing enterprises in 50 countries. During the meeting, the issue of implementing joint projects in the field of agricultural processing and food production was agreed.

The issue of building a modern 5-star hotel in Uzbekistan was discussed with the founder of Universal Success Enterprises Prasoon Mukherjee. An agreement is being prepared for signing.

During the dialogue with the Executive Director of Changi Airports International, Yuzhin Gan, issues of cooperation on the development of the aviation sector of Uzbekistan were discussed.

For the past 7 years, the company’s airport in Singapore has been recognized as the best in the world. It annually serves more than 70 million passengers and handles about 2.5 million tons of cargo.

General Director of MSA Sim Wee Mengom, in a dialogue with the leadership of the ministry, spoke about the work being carried out jointly with Uzbek partners to prepare a project for the development of the infrastructure of the Tashkent metro.

The meetings that took place allowed the participants to exchange their vision of further cooperation, discuss the details of major projects and expand the understanding of the parties about the existing potential for the development of trade, economic, financial and technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Singapore.
