The US Embassy in Tashkent said that the concerts will be held at the Ancient Amphitheater of Bukhara on 26 June and the Turkiston Summer Hall in Tashkent on 30 June. The concerts start at 19:00.
US Embassy Tashkent has partnered with Ucell, Mix&Match Producer Center and Kamolot in bringing the Pine Leaf Boys on their first trip to Uzbekistan. Tickets to the Bukhara concert are available through Kamolot and tickets to the Tashkent show are available through Mix&Match.
In addition to the two concerts, the Pine Leaf Boys will hold several master classes at music schools throughout the country where they will teach the skills and sounds of Southern American music to local students.
The Pine Leaf Boys have been invited to Uzbekistan as part of a US State Department program showcasing unique American music and culture throughout the world. The band has participated in world tours sharing their unique sound since 2009 and has previously played concerts in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jerusalem, Latvia, Denmark and Slovenia.
The four-time Grammy-nominated Pine Leaf Boys are well-known for their unique brand of Cajun music and exuberant performances. The band plays a combination of American Cajun country classics and dancehall favorites. The Pine Leaf Boys have been described by the New York Times as “the best new, energetic, and fun Cajun band in a very long time.” Members include Wilson Savoy (accordion, fiddle and vocals), Daniel Gale (fiddle), Drew Simon (drums and vocals), Jon Bertrand (guitars) and Thomas David (bass).
Cajun music is an American style originating in the French-speaking regions of Louisiana in the southern United States. Combining French and Southern American influences and heavy on the accordion and the fiddle, it is a style of music that is distinctly Louisianan and American.
