Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 9 December, a concert of the world famous pianist Denis Matsuev took place at the Palace of International Forums “Uzbekistan”. Virtuoso, combining the innovation and traditions of the Russian piano school in his work, presented in Tashkent a new program from his favorite works of classical composers from Russia and Europe: Igor Stravinsky, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Ferenc Liszt.

Denis Matsuev is People’s Artist of Russia, Honorary Professor of Moscow State University, Chairman of the Council for Culture at the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Member of the Council for Culture and Art under the President of the Russian Federation. The musician is a laureate of many international awards, including the prestigious Dmitry Shostakovich Prize.

The musician’s particular responsibility is the Interregional Charitable Fund “New Names” named after I.N. Voronova, a pupil, and at present, the president of which he is. Over its more than twenty-year history, the Foundation has brought up several generations of artists and, under the direction of Denis Matsuev, continues to expand its educational activities in the field of support for talented children.

The organizer of the concert was the Fund for the Development of Culture and Art under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Some of the tickets were distributed among workers of cultural institutions of Tashkent and students of music educational institutions at no cost.
