Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 1 April 2025, pharmacies and medical institutions in Uzbekistan will be required to pay value-added tax (VAT), regardless of their income level. This measure is outlined in a presidential decree signed on 27 December.
Data collection and processing for VAT calculation will be automated. To achieve this, tax authorities will utilize information from virtual cash registers, receipts, electronic invoices, and other sources, which is expected to simplify the tax administration process.
Additionally, the government plans to abolish the excise tax on polyethylene raw materials used in the production of pharmaceuticals. Currently, the excise rate is 10%.
The development of the corresponding draft law is scheduled for early 2025. It is expected that the document will undergo review and approval by Parliament and the President before March.
