Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola shared his impressions of the club’s new signings, defenders Abdulkodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, who recently joined the English club.
At a press conference ahead of their Champions League group stage match against PSG, Guardiola was asked about the young players.
"Welcome to the City family. I’m happy that they’ve become part of our team. These are young players with great potential, and they can benefit the club for many years. Khusanov has already shown his qualities in France, and he has excellent physical conditioning. I hope he’ll quickly master the English language. As for Reis, he’s a very talented young Brazilian footballer," the Spanish coach remarked.
Guardiola also emphasized that both defenders will strengthen the team, especially in the Champions League knockout stages.
"They already have the opportunity to gain match experience in the Premier League," the coach added.
On Monday, Manchester City officially confirmed the transfer of central defender Abdulkodir Khusanov from Uzbekistan. The contract runs until June 2029, with an option for an additional season. The transfer fee was €40 million.
Next Saturday, on 25 January, the "Citizens" will face Chelsea in the Premier League. It is expected that Khusanov will make his debut for the new team in this match.
