Penalty points system for traffic violations in Uzbekistan not come into force on 1 May
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The penalty points system for drivers in Uzbekistan will not come into effect on 1 May, according to Zoir Yuldashev, spokesperson for the Road Safety Service of the Public Security Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Currently, a regulatory legal act is being developed to determine the procedure for assigning penalty points for traffic violations.
In the draft law by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which underwent public discussion and concluded on 4 April, it was proposed to assign points for 14 types of violations in addition to the main penalty. Drivers accumulating 12 points could face license suspension for up to six months.
Points will be assigned only based on protocols drawn up by Road Safety Service officers, and records will be maintained automatically through a special module called E-jarimaball. This module was initially planned to launch by 1 May.
Drivers will be able to track their penalty points through E-jarimaball or a dedicated mobile application. Upon reaching 8 points, drivers will receive an SMS warning, and if they accumulate 12 points, a notification will be sent to the court for administrative action.
If a driver successfully challenges a protocol in court, the assigned points will be removed. The court ruling will be uploaded into the E-jarimaball system to ensure the points are deleted.
