Participants in LikeCup Brawl Held Accountable in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Individuals involved in a mass brawl during the amateur football tournament LikeCup in Tashkent have been held administratively accountable.
Among those penalized are well-known actor and tournament organizer Alisher Uzoqov, as well as several popular bloggers. The incident sparked wide public reaction and led to a temporary suspension of the tournament.
The altercation occurred on 29 May at the “Jar” stadium in the Shaykhantakhur district during a match between the teams “Kotta Bola” and “Malades.” Tensions flared after one player struck an opponent on the head, escalating into a mass fight involving other players and bloggers. While organizers initially claimed the incident was part of a prearranged stunt, Tashkent's Main Department of Internal Affairs reported that the publicity act spiraled out of control, disturbing public order.
As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted preventive talks with the participants, followed by an on-site hearing by the Shaykhantakhur District Criminal Court.
The court found Alisher Uzoqov, Abdurakhmon Mavlonov, and bloggers Mirjalol Rakhmonaliyev and Dilshodbek Urozboyev guilty of petty hooliganism and disobeying police orders. Each received a fine of 10 sizes of basic estimated value (3,750,000 soums).
Ozodbek Urozboyev, identified as the instigator, was sentenced to 10 days of administrative detention.
Kamoliddin Mamajonov was also fined 12 sizes of basic estimated value (4,500,000 soums).
The Tashkent Police Department emphasized that maintaining public order at mass events is a legal requirement and any violations will be addressed in accordance with the law.
