Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev as part of the Dialogue of Women Leaders in Central Asia, which is chaired by Kazakhstan in Astana.

During the dialogue, attention was focused on the current state and prospects of inter-parliamentary relations, as well as issues of further development of trade, economic and investment cooperation, further strengthening of relations between the regions of the two countries.

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are the most active countries in the regional format, and the pace of bilateral cooperation is growing rapidly in all areas of the parliamentary dimension. Based on this point of view, she expressed her opinion on the need to pay great attention to the expansion and deepening of cooperation between the regions of our countries, the implementation of investment and trade agreements adopted as a result of the Uzbek-Kazakh interregional forum, effectively using the capabilities of the parliament and joint efforts.

Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev emphasized that the dialogue of women leaders of Central Asia initiated by Uzbekistan is a unique platform for regional cooperation and is significant in that it brings all aspects of mutual cooperation to a new level.

- We welcome the adoption of the Constitution of Uzbekistan in a new edition, which covers all areas of the country’s development and embodies the great reform potential of state policy. The achievements of Uzbekistan in various fields are an example for the countries of the region. In particular, we consider your experience in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. In this regard, I would like to note with satisfaction that the great practical experience of Uzbekistan is taken as a basis, and at present, a commission on SDGs has also been established under the Parliament of Kazakhstan, said M. Ashimbaev.

During a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov, attention was focused on an important area of cooperation between our countries - inter-parliamentary relations, which are becoming regular.

Tanzila Narbayeva expressed her opinion that the Oliy Majlis pays great attention to the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Council, as well as the parliamentary group for cooperation with the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, it is necessary to further intensify measures within the framework of these relationship mechanisms, it is necessary to develop cooperation on the exchange of experience in the field of lawmaking, gender and youth policy.

“In recent years, Uzbekistan has been developing steadily, and Kazakhstan, as a close brother and neighbor, fully supports all the reforms being carried out in the country,” E. Koshanov said. - The Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Council, when monitoring the implementation of agreements at the highest level between the two countries, will continue to pay special attention to the effectiveness of its activities. Since the sphere of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is wide and rich, we are interested in its consistent development.

As a result of meetings with the heads of parliaments, an agreement was reached to continue the practice of promoting joint initiatives, mutual support of the two countries within the framework of international parliamentary structures, as well as a number of other international organizations.
