Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Negotiations have taken place in the Samarkand region between representatives of the Government of Uzbekistan and experts from Pakistan’s leather industry.

The meeting was initiated by the “Uzcharmsanoat” Association with support from the regional administration and focused on concrete plans and mechanisms for bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of sheep skin processing.

It was noted that Samarkand region possesses significant potential for developing the leather industry due to its advantageous geographic location, developed livestock sector, and availability of raw materials.

Representatives from the regional administration, relevant ministries, and the “Uzcharmsanoat” Association presented detailed information about the region's investment opportunities.

The Pakistani delegation emphasized that its enterprises are currently seeking reliable and stable sources of raw materials, especially sheep skins, to support leather production.

As a first practical step, the parties agreed to send a batch of sample sheep skins to Pakistan for test processing and assessment of product quality based on technical parameters.

“We have seen that there is not only sufficient raw material here, but also the conditions needed to localize production. If the samples meet our technical standards, we are ready to consider organizing processing operations directly in Uzbekistan,” noted a representative of the Pakistani delegation.

In the near future, specialists from Pakistan will arrive in Uzbekistan to carry out the collection and sorting of sheep skins in accordance with their company standards. The samples will then be sent to Pakistan for further processing.
