In early 2011, Pakhtakor captain Odil Akhmedov moved to Anzhi Mahachkala on a year-long loan. He impressed both fans and management of the Russian club.

Recently, management of two clubs reached agreement on mutual cooperation. The first fruit of this cooperation is transfer of Anzhi and Georgia national team Irakliy Klimiashvili to Pakhtakor on loan.

Within the cooperation, the sides are planning to hold a friendly match. They also are planning to exchange players, and set cooperation at the level of marketing departments, academies and press services.
