Uzbekistan07/01/2008Over 40 kg of opium seized in Uzbek west
Drug dealers carefully hid the dangerous cargo in a hiding place in the hope of misleading law-enforcement officers but to no avail this time as well. A resident of [southern] Surkhondaryo Region, Chori Ollaberdiyev, who set off for his long journey with criminal intentions, fell under suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking long before his arrest.
NSS officers decided to stop a Nexia car driven by him at the entrance to [western] Urgench District. When a gas fuel tank was cut in the presence of witnesses, over 40 kg of raw opium was found in a specially-equipped hiding place and seized.
