Over 30,000 Foreign-Funded Enterprises Registered in China in First Half of 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first half of 2025, 30,014 foreign-invested enterprises were established in mainland China, marking an 11.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce.

Xinhua News Agency reported that actual foreign direct investment (FDI) for January–June totaled 423.23 billion yuan (about US$59.18 billion), down 15.2 percent year-on-year.

The largest share of FDI went into the services sector, with 305.87 billion yuan, while manufacturing attracted 109.06 billion yuan. High-tech industries accounted for 127.87 billion yuan, with the fastest growth recorded in:

  • e-commerce, up 127.1 percent,
  • chemical and pharmaceutical production, up 53 percent,
  • aerospace equipment manufacturing, up 36.2 percent,
  • medical equipment manufacturing, up 17.7 percent.

Investment inflows from several key countries and regions also increased. ASEAN nations posted an 8.8 percent rise, while investments from Switzerland grew by 68.6 percent, Japan by 59.1 percent, the United Kingdom by 37.6 percent, Germany by 6.3 percent, and South Korea by 2.7 percent.

Experts note that the surge in newly registered foreign-invested enterprises reflects sustained international business interest in the Chinese market despite global economic challenges.
