Over 11 months, 5,500 cybercrimes were committed in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over the past 11 months, 5,500 cybercrimes were committed in Uzbekistan, of which 70% were fraud and theft related to bank cards. This was announced at a meeting taking place in Tashkent.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is holding a video conference meeting on priority tasks for the development of the IT sector and digitalization of public administration.

Today about 50 payment systems are operating in Uzbekistan, and it was noted that not all of them meet cybersecurity requirements.

In November, a Presidential Decree on combating crimes in the IT sector was signed.

Official ministries and departments are instructed to develop and strictly monitor the implementation of uniform cybersecurity requirements for all electronic payment systems.

In general, the importance of developing plans to increase the volume of IT services to 20 trillion soums, exports to US$800 million, implementation of 130 information systems on the network and complete digitalization of 750 government services was noted.
