Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Otabek Umarov has been elected Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for the Central Asian region during the 44th OCA General Assembly held in New Delhi.
During the elections, new leaders of the organization were appointed. Raja Randhir Singh became the president of the OCA.
Otabek Umarov, in turn, was elected as Vice President for the Central Asian region, which includes Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Afghanistan.
Previously, Umarov held a temporary position as Vice President overseeing the Asian Youth Games "Tashkent-2025." Now, in his permanent role, he will be responsible for promoting Olympism in one of the five regions of Asia.
In his speech, Umarov highlighted the growing global recognition of Asian sports, noting that four Asian countries ranked in the top 15 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
He also expressed his gratitude for the support from the President of Uzbekistan, which has helped the country achieve its best results in history.
