Uzbekistan 07/06/2008 OSCE CiO holds talks at Uzbek parliament’s lower house, FM
As a part of its stay in Uzbekistan the delegation members met with the Speaker of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Dilorom Tashmuhamedova, Jahon information agency reported quoting local newspapers.

During the talks in the national parliament the sides said that relations between Uzbekistan and OSCE were consistently developing in all directions, in particularly, in the sphere of legislation.

They also exchanged views on today’s state as much as prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and OSCE. According to them, the parliamentary cooperation was important in terms of consolidating the legal basis of both bilateral and multilateral relations, in particular, in the framework of OSCE.

The Chairman-in-Office Alexander Stubb said that the presidential decree of 1 May 2008 "On the Action Programme dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights" served yet another confirmation of Uzbekistan’s adherence to universal values.

Stubb highly assessed the ongoing processes of democratization in Uzbekistan, the work on ensuring the rule of law and protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens. "OSCE is interested in further expanding and consolidating the cooperation with Uzbekistan in political, trade, economic and legal spheres," he said.

Earlier the OSCE delegation also visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan where it had talks with the Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov.
