Organic cotton from Bukhara region introduced to Japanese markets

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Dutch certification organization Control Union, in cooperation with the Uztekstilprom Association, has been carrying out certification work on growing organic cotton in cotton-textile clusters of the Republic for several years, the press service of the Uztekstilprom Association reports.

Considering the number of requests to the "Single Window" at the association from textile enterprises on issues of certification and standardization, with the assistance of international organizations, numerous seminars, trainings and meetings are held to promote and implement relevant standards and certifications in Uzbekistan.

In particular, on the basis of the HAJ TEX enterprise in Olot district of Bukhara region, for the first time, organic cotton grown on an area of 3 thousand hectares is certified by the GOTS international standard, which guarantees that textile products are produced organically, in compliance with environmental and social requirements, from the collection of raw materials to the finished product.

Through its introduction, HAJ TEX has exported organic yarn at twice the price of conventional yarn to one of the world’s largest markets - Japan, joining the supply chain of one of the famous Imabari terry towel brands.
