The purpose of the Film Forum is mutual understanding of the interpenetration of the different cultures and generality of the issues in the modern world. The main objectives of the film forum are: promotion of the national cinematograph and involvement of representatives of the world film industry to the unique historical heritage of Uzbekistan.

This year, the motto of the film festival is: "Human histories: the philosophy of the senses."

The opening of the "Golden Gepard" was held in the newly opened cultural and cognitive center "City Makon". Three new cinemas of the centre, including one outdoor, are great places for demonstration of the films, which will participate in the festival.

This year, for opening ceremony of the festival, there were invited a lot of famous guests - representatives of the domestic and foreign culture and cinematography, who appeared one by one on the red carpet. Among them, there were such Russian celebrities as: Dmitry Vlasov, Oleg Ujinov, Vladimir Menchov, as well as popular actor Andrew Fedortsov, who, at the same time, has been co-master of the opening ceremony of the Film Forum.

Among the representatives of the Uzbek film industry, there were such famous persons as: Akbar Khakimov, Rustam Sagdullayev, Murad Radjabov, Pulat Saidkasymov, Rano Shadieva, Dilnoza Kubayeva.

Film Forum also has been visited by foreign guests, representatives of the film industry from Europe and Asia, including: German director Thomas Mauh, Chinese novelist and screenwriter Zhou Achen, French director Regiz Ghezelbash and other celebrities.

After grand opening ceremony of the "Golden Gepard", there was showed the digitized version of the first black-and-white silent film “Second wife”, which has been filmed in Uzbekistan in 1927.

The main heroine of the film isRachel Messerer-Plisetskaya, the mother of world famous ballet dancer Maya Plisetskaya. The whole ceremony was organized in very fun and easy mode– the hosts of the ceremony have been joking all around, and the guests enjoyed the evening under the unobtrusive background music, played by famous Uzbek band "Sato", which performed popular tunes of the past century.

Incredibly beautiful background and scenery of the whole place have been made in retro style, which were presented with vintage film cameras, located in different places, interesting stands with film shoots from old Uzbek movies, as well as, specially renovated for the red carpet, an antique car – property of the Uzbekfilm studio. All of the mentioned above, created a great sense of touch to the past, which is so inconspicuously intertwined with the present.
