Rieter Uzbekistan specializes on production of textile equipment. The enterprise was founded in line with an agreement on strategic partnership, which was inked by Uzbekyengilsanoat (Uzbek Light Industry) state joint stock company and Rieter AG (Switzerland) in 2011.

The project will be implemented in three phases. The first phase of the project envisages launch of production of tape and carding machines, the second phase - ring spinning machines. The third phase stipulates commissioning of the plants for metal processing and powder coating.

According to representative of Rieter AG board Peter Gnegi, some US$7 million were invested to the first project. Overall, it is planned to direct US$27 million to the project.

Uzbekyengilsanoat and Rieter AG are also planning to provide internship to the students of Tashkent Institute for Textile and Light Industry.

According to the official data, currently share of the light industry in GDP of Uzbekistan makes up 2.7%, in industry – 26.2% and production of non-food consumer goods – 44%.

In line with statistic data, currently there are 2,200 light industry enterprises in Uzbekistan. Over 100 of them were created with investments of companies from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, USA, India and Singapore.
