Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 June, Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with OneWeb Marketing Director Ivan Zaytsev. Representatives of the Ministry of ICT and heads of the Uzbekcosmos agency also took part in the meeting.

Today, OneWeb is implementing major projects in many countries around the world. The representative of the company expressed his intention to implement similar projects in Uzbekistan. On 16 May, a memorandum of understanding and cooperation was signed between Uzbekcosmos and the company.

The main purpose of the memorandum is to attract the OneWeb satellite company to the Uzbek market, as well as a number of measures related to the services of the company’s non-geostationary satellite communication systems, including regulatory issues, discussion and determination of the state’s main needs for the use of OneWeb satellites.

At today’s meeting, the company also made proposals for the provision of high-speed broadband Internet to regions and remote rural settlements, enterprises of various sectors of the economy via OneWeb satellites. At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
