Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A suspect has been detained in connection with the shooting at a Range Rover carrying Komil Allamjonov, a former Presidential Administration official. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan reported the arrest early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred on the night of 26 October in Kibray District, Tashkent Region, near a railway crossing. Two unidentified individuals reportedly fired multiple shots at the vehicle before fleeing the scene. Neither the driver nor Allamjonov was injured.

Law enforcement found eight shell casings at the scene, with two bullets hitting the vehicle’s door. The weapon type has not yet been disclosed.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, this was an attempted murder.

An investigation has been opened under Article 97 in conjunction with Article 25 of the Criminal Code (attempted murder) and Article 248 (illegal possession of firearms).

The investigative team includes representatives from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Offices of Tashkent Region and Tashkent City, the Military and Transport Prosecutors, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Main Departments of Internal Affairs of Tashkent Region and Tashkent City, and the Customs Committee.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the statement.
