The statement said that the Russian and Uzbek politicians, scholars and workers of the art proposed to name one of the squares after Islam Karimov.

It is expected that the square in Yakimanka district will be named after Islam Karimov. The square is located near consulate and guest house of Uzbekistan in Moscow.

It is expected that the Government of Moscow will consider the resolution on naming square after Islam Karimov on 1 November.

Earlier, city inter-departmental commission on naming territories approved the proposal on creation of memorial square in honour of Islam Karimov.
