A joint communique issued at the end of the visit of President Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan said that His Majesty Sultan Qaboos received an invitation to visit Uzbekistan.

The communique said that His Majesty the Sultan and President Karimov held talks in which co-operation and understanding prevailed.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction with their talks which aimed to enhance co-operation in various economic, political, cultural and scientific fields, the statement said. The two sides have also stressed their efforts to maintain their historical ties in line with their common Islamic values.
