The Sultanate’s government and Uzbekistan government signed the protocol for the intention to construct the library. The protocol was signed on behalf of the Omani government by Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council, and on behalf of Uzbekistan by Rustum Azimov, first deputy prime minister and minister of finance.
Macki said that His Majesty the Sultan’s order to construct the library is in recognition of the scientific achievements made by scholars who played a great role in serving religion, jurisprudence, history, astronomy, mathematics, algebra and other sciences.
Uzbekistan is the homeland of a number of renowned scholars and scientists such as Imam Al Bukahri, Al Khuarizmi and Ibn Hayyan who have laid the basis for a large number of sciences that are taught today, Macki said.
Macki also added that His Majesty the Sultan is very keen on promoting cooperation with Uzbekistan by enforcing the cultural and economic relations.
