The competition, which was established on initiative of the Uzbek President, is dedicated to the World Press Freedom Day. It is organized at popularizing achievements of national and international journalism, etc.

The competition is held in such directions TV, radio, print and internet journalism. Employees and teams of mass media can participate at the event. It is also open for press services of the state and nongovernmental establishments.

During the session, the organizational committee approved measures on organization of the Oltin Qalam competition in 2012.

It is worth to mention that prize money of the competition will increase by 40 million soums and reach 189 million soums in 2012.

The expenses, connected with the competition, will be financed due to the resources of the Public Fund on Supporting of Nongovernmental Organizations and Other Institutes of Civil Society under the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

The winners of the competition will be announced on 3 May 2012.
