The report said that during the meeting representatives of the European Union underlined importance of parliamentary cooperation, which is foundation for development of competitive and mutual beneficial relations, and expressed readiness to support political dialogue with Uzbekistan, which is considered as important partner of the EU in Central Asia.

The sides said that they have common interest in promoting regional stability, development of joint and coordinated responses to global challenges such as drug trafficking, terrorism and extremism. It was noted that Uzbekistan has high potential and key role in stabilization and development of Central Asian region.

The sides also discussed issues of further expanding and strengthening trade-economic and investment cooperation between the EU and Uzbekistan. It was said European companies should study opportunities to invest into projects in Uzbekistan directed at modernization of the economy of the country, including Navoi and Angren special economic and industrial zones.

The sides also vowed to expand interaction in ecology, healthcare and energy sectors.

The joint declaration has been adopted in the result of the ninth session of the committee of parliamentary cooperation.
