Number of traffic accidents in Uzbekistan falls by 0.5% in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of traffic accidents in Uzbekistan decreased by 0.5% year-on-year in 2010, a head of Main Department of Security of Traffic of Uzbekistan Interior Ministry lieutenant colonel Anvar Sulaymankhodjaev said.

Anvar Sulaymankhodjaev said that number of people, who received injuries in the result of accidents, decreased by 0.4% and persons, who died, - by 0.7%.

During the special raids, the employees of the State Traffic Security Service revealed traffic accidents with children. In 2010, some 239 children died in accidents and 1,621 were injured.

Sulaymankhodjaev noted that traffic accidents are taking place in the result of such violations as speeding, non-observance of Traffic Rules, drunk driving or driving of broken cars, use of mobile phones and monitors, etc.

Sulaymankhodjaev stated that Traffic Service inspectors are issuing over 3,000 drivers a day in average for not using security straps during driving.
