Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – As of 1 July 2024, the number of self-employed individuals in Uzbekistan has surpassed 3.5 million, an increase of 115.6% (1.9 million) compared to the same period last year, according to the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan.
In the manufacturing and services sector, there are 331,000 self-employed individuals as of July 1, 2024, which is an increase of 199.3% or 220,400 compared to the same period in 2023.
The number of self-employed individuals in household services has risen by 186.2% or 952,500, reaching 1.46 million.
In the information and communication services sector, there are 92,300 self-employed individuals as of 1 July 2024, which is an increase of 154.7% or 56,100 compared to the same period in 2023.
Over 917,600 self-employed individuals were working in agricultural services as of 1 July 2024, marking a 56.1% increase. In the industrial services sector, there are 336,600 self-employed individuals, reflecting a 63.3% increase.
The number of self-employed taxi drivers has exceeded 530,010 as of 1 July 2024, with 238,630 being registered this year.
The largest number of self-employed individuals is recorded in Samarkand region (430,600), Kashkadarya region (362,500), and Tashkent city (291,800).
