Number of self-employed citizens exceeds 4.083 million people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 1 October 2024, the number of self-employed citizens in Uzbekistan has surpassed 4.083 million people, reflecting an increase of 86.8% compared to the same period in 2023, or 1.9 million more people. This information was reported by the Uzbekistan Tax Committee.

Of the total number of self-employed individuals, 57% are men, while 43% are women. Regionally, the highest number of self-employed citizens is found in Samarkand region, with over 470,000 individuals, followed by Kashkadarya region with more than 413,000 and Tashkent region with over 378,000.

Also among the leaders are Andijan region with nearly 371,000 and Tashkent city with more than 365,000 self-employed individuals.

The highest growth rates in self-employment have been noted in the following sectors:

- Household services: Growth of 133.6% (987,400 individuals)

- Production of consumer goods and services: Growth of 113.5% (203,500 individuals)

- Information and communication technology services: Growth of 96.7% (51,600 individuals)

In the social services sector, 462,000 individuals are employed (growth of 65.7%), in agriculture — 1.027 million (growth of 51.1%), and in industry — 380,000 (growth of 48.5%).

Additionally, since the beginning of the year, the number of individuals registered to work in passenger transport using private vehicles has increased by 344,700, reaching 611,600, representing more than a twofold growth.
