Number of car accidents in Uzbekistan decreases by 2.9%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of automobile accidents in Uzbekistan fell by 2.9% year-on-year in eleven months of 2012.

At the same time, number of wounded people fell by 3.2% and those, who died in the result of accidents, dropped by 0.1%.

In eleven months of 2012, some 3.328 million violations were revealed, including 1.285 million of crude violations. Some 43,204 drunken drivers were revealed.

In the reporting period, some 39,321 drivers violated law, talking over mobile while driving. About 992,382 drivers and passengers did not use safety straps and 42,753 pedestrian violated traffic rules.

In order to modernize on organization of road traffic and increase capacity of roads, some 8,911 road signs were installed in eleven months of 2012 and 22,950 signs were replaced with new ones.

Besides, some 35 traffic lights were installed and functionality of 224 traffic lights were changed. Some 1,015,473 square meters of road signs were drawn.

Uzbekistan actively introduces information-communication technologies to ensure traffic safety. Traffic safety department of Ministry of Interior Affairs of Uzbekistan has central electronic database on registering traffic accidents across Uzbekistan. The system allows to account all accidents and determine reasons of the accidents, as well as adopt effective measures to prevent them.

Traffic safety department has single electronic database on registration of all vehicles. The database allows to decrease time, spent to car registration. Traffic safety department also works on single database of administrative violations on roads.

Currently, software for creation of database of administrative violations on roads was created in several regions of Uzbekistan and they were introduced. The software will allow to collect data on accidents, drivers, levied fines and their prevention.

Interior Ministry of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information created a project “Creation of computer system on management of road traffic in Tashkent city”.

The project is aimed at ensuring traffic safety with help of modern technologies, protect citizens from car accidents, control road traffic, automatic detection of violations, improvement of preventive works, etc.

Within the project, it is planned to install intellectual detectors on roads, controllers, modern surveillance means such as video cameras, photo radars and fixators.

At the same time, it is planned to install special video cameras for uninterrupted surveillance of traffic and special means for calling special services like interior bodies, medical aid, etc.

Traffic lights will be managed based on movement detectors. All data, received at roads, will be transferred to Central dispatcher service and further to video monitors and indicator panels.
