Novo-Angren thermal power station to use coal
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo state joint stock company plans to implement a project on transferring power-generating units No.1-5 of Novo-Angren thermal power station to annual burning coal (I stage) with modernization of Angren coal mine.

The project was included to the programme on priorities of industrial development of Uzbekistan in 2011-2015.

Total cost of the project makes up US$272.8 million. Chinese Eximbank will issue loan for US$113.8 million, while Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan – US$51.3 million. The own funds of enterprise will make up US$107.7 million.

Implementation of the project will help to produce 7 billion KWH electricity with mining of 6.43 million tonnes of coal.

Capacity of Novo-Angren thermal power station is 2,100 megawatt. The first power-generating unit was commissioned in 1985 and last seventh in 200. The station provides electricity to industrial objects and population of Tashkent region. Novo-Angren thermal power station is one of two power stations in Uzbekistan, which partially work in coal (during winter – heating season).
