Nineteen UN members create group to fight human trafficking
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Nineteen UN member-states decided jointly combat against modern forms of slavery. In the letter to the UN General Assembly and President of the UN General Assembly, they announced about creation of Group of Friends on fighting human trafficking at the UN.

The Group of Friends is open, informal and voluntary union, which was created to boost global fight against human trafficking. Currently, human trafficking is global problem, which is equal with illegal weapon, drug and diamond trade.

The Group proposed to develop global action plan to fight human trafficking and outlined the main components of such plan. The Group indicated necessity to actively attract civil society, mass media and private business to the process.

Out of 19 members of the Group, seven are the CIS states. Belarus initiative was supported by Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Among members are also India and Egypt.
