Nine Uzbek banks included to Top 200 largest CIS banks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Nine commercial banks of Uzbekistan were included to the list of 200 largest banks of the CIS on the size of assets. The list was published by RIA Rating (Russia).

Rating agency RIA Rating carried out research of the banking sector of CIS and prepared the list of the 200 largest banks of the CIS in terms of their assets in the result of 2014.

The agency said it obtained data from open sources –public financial reports of the banks, statistic bulletins and other publications of the central banks of the CIS. RIA Rating publishes the rating for the fifth time.

The rating includes 200 largest banks from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

About 60.5% of banks in the rating represent Russia, 10.5% - Kazakhstan, 9.5% - Ukraine and 5% - Azerbaijan. Share of Belarusian and Uzbek banks make up 4.5% each. Armenia, Georgia and Moldova account 1.5% of banks in the ranking and Turkmenistan – 1%.

The assets growth of the CIS banks slowed down in 2014 as in 2013. Aggregate assets of the banking system of the CIS decreased by 21.3% to US$1.7 trillion, while the growth rate was 23.1% in 2012 and 9.3% in 2013.

National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity, a largest commercial bank of Uzbekistan, recorded 3.4% growth of assets to US$5.3 billion. The bank holds 43rd place in the list compared to 55th place last year.

Uzpromstroybank was also among Top 100 largest banks of the CIS as its assets in US dollar equivalent grew by 4.1% to US$3.23 billion as of 1 January 2015. The bank holds 61st place in the ranking (last year – 89th place).

Asaka Bank holds 86th place in the ranking with the volume of assets of US$2.17 billion (+5.6%). Last year, the bank was on 118th place.

Qishloq Qurilish Bank holds 122nd place (177th place last year). The assets of the bank in 2014 reached US$1.41 billion, which rose by 27.7% compared to 2013.

Ipoteka Bank increased assets by 1.2% in 2014 – to US$1.35 billion. In the result, the bank moved from 155 to 126th place in the ranking.

Assets of People’s Bank reached US$1.23 billion in 2014, growing by 0.2% year-on-year. The bank moved 33 places up and now holds 133rd place in the ranking.

Agrobank improved its position in the ranking – from 172 to 136th place. The bank’s assets exceeded US$1.18 billion in 2014, which rose by 2.3% compared to 2013.

KDB Bank Uzbekistan was included to the ranking for the first time and holds the 162nd place with the assets of US$0.87 billion (+8.1%). Hamkorbank is also new bank in the ranking. The assets of the bank rose by 44% and reached US$0.72 billion. The bank is on 191st place in the ranking.
