NGOs role in implementation of social-economic tasks discussed in Nukus
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A roundtable titled “From strong state to strong civil society: role of NGOs in implementation of social-economic and publicly important tasks” was held in Nukus on 10 November.

Representatives of NGOs from Karakalpakstan, political parties, exports of National Association of NGOs, Institute of studying civil society, students and mass media participated at the event.

The event was aimed at discussing issues of boosting activity of NGOs and civil societies in implementation of social-economic and publicly important tasks, developing recommendations of further strengthening role of institutes of civil society in the country.

Participants noted that NGOs play important role in construction of civil society and representatives of the sector should be more active in implementation of their goals and tasks. They also underlined role of National Association of NGOs (NANGOs).

It was said that it is necessary for NGOs to consolidate their works within the NANGOs to solve existing problems.

Head of Karakalpak branch of Ecosan Nurullo Myrzamuratov said that NANGOs plays key role in forming civil society in Uzbekistan. Since its launch in 2005, NANGOs has carried out significant work in consolidation and support of NGOs in Uzbekistan. Having close relations with NGOs, the Association carried out several joint events and implemented important projects, etc.

MP of Jukori Kenges Sara Quyliboyeva said currently NANGOs actively coordinate activity of major part of NGOs, operating in Uzbekistan, solve actual issues in timely manner, render legal services, and provide other services. NANGOs member actively participate in realization of state social programmes.

Participants paid special attention to development of social partnership between state authorities and NGOs in solving actual issues of the country’s social-economic development. They noted that NGOs participated in implementation of the state programme “The Year of Harmonically Developed Generation”.

Currently over 200 NGOs operate in Karakalpakstan. They work in healthcare, ecology, support of vulnerable layers of population, entrepreneurship, sports. In last three years, over 60 NGOs were created in Karakalpakstan.
