NGMK launches first phase of gold-mining complex
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine (NGMK) launched the first phase of gold-mining complex on the base of Zarmitan gold ore zone (Samarkand region) with the capacity of 5 tonnes of gold a year.

The company invested US$115 million to this project. The combine constructed mining complex at Charmitan field. The complex will mine 650,000 tonnes of ore a year with underground method. The company also is continuing to modernize Mardjanbulak concentrating plant.

NGMK started to construct Zarmitan gold-mining complex with total cost of US$300 million in 2007. It is planned to utilize Charmitan, Gujumsay and Promejutochnoy fields, as well as modernize Mardjanbulak gold producing plant within the project. In the result, the plant will increase production capacity to 10 tonnes of gold a year.

The company plans to commission the second phase at the Gujumsay field in 2010. It is expected to complete project fully by 2012.
