Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 December, Sochi (Russia) will host an international conference NEXT 75 dedicated to global problems and challenges facing humanity. The main goal of the conference is to build a dialogue about the future of our planet between famous scientists and caring representatives of the younger generation.

The NEXT 75 Youth Conference is a logical element in the completion of the 75th anniversary program of the Russian nuclear industry. Paying tribute to the achievements of the past and talking about the technologies of our time, the industry turns to tomorrow - nuclear scientists are used to looking far ahead and planning for decades. Today’s schoolchildren and students will determine the new vector of development. The young generation should have the most complete expert information about global problems and scientifically based ways of solving them.

What should humanity prepare for in the next 10, 25 and even 75 years? Which technologies will develop most actively, and which history will leave behind? Are global conflicts awaiting our planet due to lack of resources? Will there be enough space on Earth when there are more than 10 billion people? Has the point of no return in global climate change been passed, and are environmental disasters of unprecedented proportions awaiting us? Is it possible to really prepare for future epidemics, or can they be avoided altogether?

All these and many other questions will be asked by the conference participants to the speakers - the world’s leading scientists and public figures. The main thematic blocks of the conference will be devoted to closely related problems - resource scarcity, population growth, new diseases and environmental issues. Thanks to the use of multimedia technologies, communication on serious topics will become vivid and spectacular, and many visual surprises await the audience.

The conference is planned to include world-renowned scientists such as Rodney John Allam, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Global Energy Prize winner, author of developments in the field of energy conservation, and Karl Safin, Doctor of Ecology at Rutgers University (USA).

Oyewale Tomori, a renowned virologist and expert in the implementation of innovative solutions in the fight against pandemics, will tell what diseases humanity should be afraid of in the future. Miguel Brandao and Thomas Blis, Associate Professor of Industrial Ecology and Life Cycle Assessment at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, will be the speakers in the Resource Scarcity section, and Thomas Blis, author of the book “Medicine for the Planet”, will be the speakers. Dr. Tejbir Singh Rana, Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography, Delhi University, will talk about the problem of overpopulation, which promises to be one of the most pressing in the future.

The conference is also planned to be attended by celebrities - Russian actor and director Danila Kozlovsky, UN peace envoy, renowned anthropologist Jane Goodall. Special guests of the conference are Elena Shmeleva, head of the Talent and Success Foundation and Alexei Likhachev, General Director of ROSATOM.

The organization of a conference aimed at solving global problems is a logical step for ROSATOM, which makes a significant contribution to achieving sustainable development goals. The nuclear industry in Russia can provide all of humanity with not only a powerful carbon-free source of energy, but also many unique technologies in the most promising areas that will be most in demand in the future.

The conference will be held in Russian and English in a mixed offline and online format. 200 gifted Russian schoolchildren and students will attend the event at the Atom Hall in the Sirius Park of Science and Art in Sochi, another 400 young people from around the world will be invited to join the conference online with the opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussions.

Despite the pandemic, hundreds of people will have an opportunity for live communication thanks to the Atom hall, which will host the conference. Atom is a unique space created by Rosatom for conducting business and educational events in online and offline formats. The hall is equipped with all necessary modern conference equipment. Its capacity is up to 900 people. It will be jointly used by Rosatom and the Sirius educational center for various events.

Safety is an absolute priority in the nuclear industry and extends far beyond nuclear facilities. The latest air disinfection system is installed in the Atom hall. The conference will be held in full compliance with the sanitary and epidemiological requirements.

The broadcast of the conference will begin on the website, as well as on the social networks of ROSATOM on 16 December at 15:00. Anyone from any country of the world can become spectators of the three-hour intellectual dialogue.
