New “Tourist Mahalla” Opens in Rishtan District

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Mamadali Topvoldiev Mahalla in the Rishtan district of Fergana region has officially been granted the status of a “Tourist Mahalla.” The designation was approved by the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan as part of its broader initiative to develop tourism infrastructure and promote domestic travel.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Tourism Committee, leadership of the “Hunarmand” Craftsmen’s Association, regional and local government officials, as well as members of the public and media. The event’s guest of honor was Saad Al-Qaddumi, President of the World Crafts Council.

Speakers at the ceremony highlighted the government’s strong commitment to the development of tourism and emphasized the important role of tourist mahallas in enhancing both the investment climate and cultural appeal of the regions. It was noted that such initiatives not only help preserve national heritage but also create new opportunities for self-employment and local economic growth.

During the event, guests explored the domestic tourism fair “Travel Across Uzbekistan!” and viewed an exhibition of handcrafted products made by local artisans. The presentation of traditional culture, lifestyle, and values in the new Tourist Mahalla sparked significant interest and positive feedback from attendees.
