The event was organized on initiative of Samarkand city administration, state unitary enterprise “Samarkand – tourism makoni” and regional association “Hunarmand”, UzA reported.

Samarkand has great tourism potential and the city created state unitary enterprise “Samarkand – tourism makoni” in 2013 to promote tourism.

Sheroz Abbasov, head of “Samarkand – tourism makoni”, said that the company renders quality services to tourists, organizes tourism routes and coordinates activities in tourism sector. He said that the enterprise established cooperation with 90 hotels and 45 tourism firms of the city, educational establishments.

He said that the enterprise installed maps of the city at the airport and railway station. He added that some 140,000 tourists from about 70 countries visited Samarkand in 2012.

The report said that foreign tourists are expressing interest in craftsmen shops, tea houses, national kitchens, etc.

During the event, the organizers awarded tourism firms, hotels, cafes, guides, and others, who contributed to development of tourism in the city.
